Between GFCI 1 and GFCI 11 Qatar has shown amongst the largest improvements in its GFCI rating of all Centres. The index describes it as a broad centre, which does particularly well with respondents from North America and the Asia/Pacific, as well as Europe. In recent issues Qatar has risen to become a Top 2 centre in the Middle-East, competing closely with Dubai to be the leading centre in the region. There is strong positive sentiment towards further improvements in Qatar's ratings, with a respondent in GFCI 11 stating that people should “watch Qatar with interest over the next couple of years – I think it has much to offer”. Founded in 2005 by the Qatar government, the [[FinancialCentreFutures:Qatar Financial Centre Authority|Qatar Financial Centre Authority]] (QFC Authority) has helped create the "strong underlying fundamentals" which GFCI 11 reports. Areas of expertise include Asset Management, Captive Insurance and Re-insurance.
