Geneva - Quick Summary
GFCI currently describes Geneva as a Established Transnational which is both broad and deep. It has a particular strength in wealth management/private banking and is strong in professional services. Since GFCI1 Geneva has closed the gap slightly to leaders London and New York, but has not shown the same level of improvement as some Asian centres (such as Shanghai), which have shown strong gains. In addition, other North American Centres - such as Toronto and San Fransisco - have shown slightly stronger improvements in competitiveness, and have now overtaken Geneva in the ratings. Despite this, Geneva has closed up to fellow European centres such as Zurich and Frankfurt. An increasing number of respondents are suggesting that they believe Geneva (as well as Zurich and Luxembourg) competes in a similar way to offshore centres such as Jersey, Isle of Man and the Cayman Islands.
