John Gallop, RTC councillor and past chair, is also a Board member of Computer Aid. This charity has a number of exciting ICT for Development projects in Africa that urgently need a donation of used computer monitors.
Computer Aid provides ICT equipment, training and support to projects such as the telemedicine for rural hospitals and rural farmers reap the rewards of ICT.
However there is an urgent lack of monitors and I am appealing to RTC members to mobilize their network to ensure that those in need get the tools that they need to improve the heathcare and food security of their families and community.
They have 2,000 base units ready to ship but lack just the monitors to deliver these computers to hospitals, farmers and schools across Africa.
There are thousands of redundant computers in company backrooms and storage areas and Computer Aid will put them to productive use. They are looking for any working 15” or 17” monitor, CRT or flat-screen monitor made in 2002 or later.
If you have no spare monitors but know someone who may, please pass this appeal message on!
